LFC Returning to North Carolina!!!
It’s official! Liverpool Football Club will be coming to play in the 2018 International Champions Cup this summer, with their first match scheduled for Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium on Sunday July 22.
The International Champions Cup is an annual pre-season tournament hosted by Relevent Sports which brings the best of the best to play each other in large venues around the world as these teams prepare for their upcoming campaigns. Billy Hogan, Managing Director and Chief Commercial Officer, Liverpool FC said: “Our pre-season tour is always a great opportunity for us to visit our supporters around the world – we’re really looking forward to visiting America this year and to compete in this fantastic tournament against some great teams.
“We’ll be bringing a bit of Merseyside to the USA and facing some outstanding opposition – we’re all looking forward to seeing our US fans and hearing the crowd in full voice.”
The Reds last took part in the ICC back in 2016 when they faced Chelsea and AC Milan in California and FC Barcelona at Wembley.
Daniel Sillman, CEO of ICC and RELEVENT, said: “Interest and fandom for European soccer in the United States and Asia is at an all-time high. Record numbers of new kids from every region and community are finding a passion for the game, the mythical teams and compelling personalities.
“The International Champions Cup and RELEVENT are incredibly excited about giving fans another amazing tournament. In addition to hosting legendary clubs in great cities and creating the European football experience, we are committed to finding new and innovative ways to bring the teams, players and fans together.”
NORTH CAROLINA IS A RED STATE!
The best news for Raleigh Reds is that the club’s opening match in this tournament is back in Charlotte against Jurgen Klopp’s former club Borussia Dortmund. Following that match, Liverpool will face Premier League rivals Manchester City on July 25 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ (just outside NYC) and will conclude their American tour on July 28 with a preseason derby against Manchester United at Michigan Stadium, aka “The Big House”, in Ann Arbor, MI with a seating capacity of over 107,000 people.
Raleigh Reds first debuted as an Official Liverpool Supporters Club (OLSC) four years ago when Liverpool came to Charlotte to play AC Milan. For those that attended, it was an incredible weekend packed with events. We partied with new friends and old from across the world, but mostly connected well with our neighboring branches in Charlotte, South Carolina, Washington, and Atlanta among others. Four years later, we have more OLSC’s in our neighborhood including Richmond and Charlottesville as well as prospective branches in Chattanooga, Nashville, and beyond. Four years ago we turned the Bank of America Stadium and all of uptown Charlotte a sea of red. Let’s do it again in 2018!!!
Ticket details – We have been told that the best seating available in the Traveling Kop will be $91.16. We are waiting for confirmation whether or not this price includes all service fees and will update you as needed. LFC Supporter Sections in the stadium have been designated to be sections 101, 102, 103, and 140. There will be tickets available for less money in other sections, but you will have to wait for the presale when that date is announced to purchase cheaper tickets directly. The Block Sale that OLSC Raleigh will be submitting prior to the presale will be in one of those pre-designated LFC Supporter Sections.
BLOCK SALE– The Block Sale is now closed!
OLSC Raleigh will be participating in a block sale of tickets for the Charlotte match only. The block sale needs to be submitted to Relevent Sports and paid for prior to the presale in order to ensure that we get the best tickets. For this reason, you will need to send us your ticket payment in advance via PayPal so that we can directly charge the block price to Relevent from our account. Tickets will cost $91.16 each (plus possible added service fees), however since you are (or will be) members of OLSC Raleigh we asking that you pay $90 per ticket as “good faith” to the club. If there are no additional fees to be added per ticket, then that will be your final cost. Since there is a limited time for us to act, we have decided to go live with this price now. In the event that there are exorbitant service fees added to the cost per ticket, we reserve the right to request you pay a slight upcharge to cover those fees. We hope this will not be the case and the club’s Organizational Committee will make a final determination once the actual final cost is known.
PRESALE– The presale will begin on April 24 at 11 AM EST. There will be a presale code issued to all members via email once it is provided to the club, approximately two hours before the presale opens. This code will give you early access to the ticketing portal to purchase seats in the sections you prefer. Be sure to check to find out what sections will contain the Traveling Kop before picking your seats! If you are not on our email list, you can do so by going to the bottom of the membership page and subscribing to our emails.
